Distinguished Young Women scholarship

LEWISTON — Distinguished Young Women is a national scholarship program that inspires high school senior girls to develop their full, individual potential through a fun, transformative experience that culminates in a celebratory showcase of their accomplishments. Join in on Saturday, February 23, at Lewiston Middle School Auditorium from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free.

The contestants are evaluated in the following categories: scholastics, self-expression, fitness, talent and interview. The Maine state winner will attend National Finals in Mobile, AL with the opportunity to compete for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of America. The program awards college scholarships to young women who have distinguished themselves at school and in their communities.

Those who participate in Distinguished Young Women programs develop interview skills, self-confidence, and other life skills that lead to future success.
