PARIS – Percy Mellen Buck, 92, of Buckfield died Monday, January 14 at Market Square Health Care Center.

He was born in Buckfield on December 8, 1920 the son of Charles A. and Hattie L. Churchill Buck. He graduated from Buckfield High School in 1939 and married Dorothy Ruth Hanson on October 11, 1940. He had been a dairy farmer all of his life, retiring in 1985.

He was a 7th degree member of the Mountain Grange #164 in Buckfield, also a member of New Century Pomona #20 as well as State and National Granges. He was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #147 in Buckfield. He belonged to the Buckfield Community Church where he served as Deacon and on the RCAM committee. He served on the board of trustees for soil conservation.

He is survived by three children, Judith Henshaw of Ellenton, FL., Barbara Bennett and Joe Charles Buck both of Buckfield; 7 grandchildren, Greg, Patty, Richard, Sharon, Susan, Gary and Debbie; 7 great grandchildren, Shannon, Emily, Spencer, Kacey, Cameron, Jaxon and Maddie; 1 great great grandchild, Ethan; a sister, Elsie Knightly of Buckfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife in 2002; a daughter, Mary Moore; a brother, Dwight Buck; and a sister, Elva Fotter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 19 at 1 p.m. at the Buckfield Community Church. Interment will be in the spring at Damon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Andrews Chapel, 41 High St., Buckfield.
