Pauline M. Bray
GLOVERSVILLE, NY — Pauline M. Bray, 86, of Gloversville passed away peacefully Monday evening, January 14, 2013 at Nathan Littauer Hospital on what would have been her and her husband’s 67th wedding anniversary. Born in Portland on June 6, 1926, the daughter of the late Everett and Marion Stevens Ball, she moved to this area in 1968. She worked for a time at the former Barkers Department Store.
A homemaker, she was accomplished at crocheting, making beautiful afghans that four generations of her family have to cherish. She had a lovely voice, and could be heard singing at home while doing her chores. She continued this even the past eight years while a resident at the Extended Care of Nathan Littauer Hospital where she resided.
Her husband, Abijah H. Bray, whom she married in 1946, predeceased her in 2003. She also lost her only sibling, her brother, Arnold Ball.
Her loving family includes her children, Melvin E. (Pamela) Bray, Phyllis A. Durant and Barbara Edick, all of Gloversville and Kenneth L. (Janet) Bray of Johnstown; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life will take place Saturday, January 19 at 11 a.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Interment will follow in Ferndale Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Bray's memory to the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.
