Dale H. Clingerman
PARIS — Dale H. Clingerman, 58, the son of Betty Simpson and Dale Hemmington Clingerman, died unexpectedly at his home in South Paris on January 5, 2013. Born on June 27, 1954 in Connellsville, PA, moving to Maine shortly thereafter, he spent most of his life in the Bangor/Orono area before moving to South Paris two years ago. He graduated from Bangor High School and the New England School of Communications, and also attended Husson University.
He was employed by Evans and Viner’s shoe factories but was most passionate about his job as a Master Control Operator for WABI-TV and union shop steward. For three years, he played the role of “Pong,” WABI’s mascot. He also played and coached the men’s softball league. More recently, he was a self-employed newspaper carrier for the Bangor Daily News. He was an avid NASCAR and New England Patriots fan and loved classic rock. He was easygoing, always ready with a friendly “hello” and had a knack for making people smile and laugh. He was never seen without his beloved dog “Tobie.”
Mr. Clingerman is survived by his fiancée, Lori Lindsay; son, Dale A. Clingerman; daughters, Joelle K. Clingerman and Lora Beth Clingerman; Aunt Jean and Aunt Ruth-Ann.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 11 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main St., South Paris. Mr. Clingerman wanted people to love one another.
