Maxine E. Pope
BUCKFIELD — Maxine E. Pope, 79, received the call to come home to her Lord on Saturday, December 8, 2012. As all of her family and friends know, she has been resting at home and graciously expressing her love and affection to each of them. During this time she continuously made it clear that while the tenderness and joy in her heart will remain with all of us, her sights are set on her future. She spent many days with her husband, Richard, bringing laughter to everyone they met. For several years she was affectionately referred to as the operator of the Buckfield taxi, because she spent so much time caring for and transporting those in need. There is no doubt that she will always be remembered as the woman who never stopped giving.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Richard Pope of Buckfield; three sons, James Bragg of Buckfield, Timothy Bragg and his wife Rae of Hebron and Gary Bragg and his wife Janet of Greene; a daughter, Beverly Dunn and husband Leon of Buckfield; a brother, George Libby Jr. and wife Judy of Oxford; two sisters, Shirley Raimy of South Paris and Carol Currier and her companion Art Rogers of Norway; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to invite everyone to come celebrate her worthy promotion for a job well done. Together they will grieve their loss, give a hero's sendoff, and start planning their reunion. Visiting hours will be on Friday, December 14, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 1 p.m. Friday at the Faith Bible Chapel in Buckfield. Burial will follow at Damon Cemetery.
At Mrs. Pope's request, in lieu of flowers please send donations to the Buckfield rescue unit. Arrangements are under the guidance of Cliff Gray Cremation and Funeral Services.
