Anita Downs

CANTON — Anita Downs, 72, of Canton, passed away from complications of cerebral palsy on November 6, 2012 surrounded by her husband and a very special friend.

She was born on April 24, 1940, the daughter of Thomas and Laura Guimond Raymond of Fort Kent, and was raised in Frenchville. She married Herbert Downs on April 1, 1991, in Mechanic Falls. She has worked and participated in activities at Pottle Works in Mechanic Falls and the Progress Center in Norway. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, yard sales and Special Olympics.

Mrs. Downs is survived by her husband, Herbert Downs of Canton, and a very special friend, Andrea Harmon of Turner.

Services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, at 2 p.m. at the Victorian Villa, 26 Pleasant Street in Canton. All are welcome. In place of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Maine Special Olympics.
