Victor L. Coolidge
EAST BETHEL — Victor L. Coolidge, 60, of East Bethel died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 26, 2012. He was born at home on July 18, 1952 a son of the late Almon and Edith (Robinson) Coolidge. He graduated from Telstar High School in 1970 and Central Maine Vocational and Technical Institute in 1973 with a degree in building construction.
He worked over the years for George Olson Construction, Andover Wood Products, L.E. Davis, Bethel Furniture Stock, and Saunders Brothers Mill. For many years he ran Coolidge Brother’s Blue Seal Feeds and Farm Equipment on the North Road. He has spent the last 26 years working for what is now the New Page paper mill in Rumford. Even in the wake of a terminal illness diagnosis, his strong work ethic remained.
He loved local history and was a lifetime member of the Bethel Historical Society as well as a 37-year member of the Bethel Masonic Lodge #97. His passion was in farming the land, from gardening to haying the fields. He will forever be remembered for his sense of humor and his generosity towards others.
Mr. Coolidge is survived by his wife, Tish; his daughters, Sarah DeCato and husband Chris, Jessica Coolidge, Victoria Dunham and husband Josh and Kathryn Coolidge; his special granddaughter, Isla DeCato; stepsons, J. T. and wife Kelley and their children, Isaiah and Annabel and Matt and his companion Heather and their children, Ryleigh and Dannika; brothers, John Coolidge and wife Eva and Earl Coolidge and wife Mona; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sisters, Mary Bean, Arlene Wesson and Phylis Barnhill.
He was very loved and will be dearly missed by his friends and extended family, especially his four daughters whom he was deeply proud of.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, August 30 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 49 Franklin, 49 Franklin St., Rumford. Another celebration with a Masonic Service will be held on Friday, September 7, at 10 a.m. on the family homestead at 2272 Intervale Rd., East Bethel. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Greenleaf Chapel, 37 Vernon St., Bethel.
