Barbara Broadhead

SOUTH PARIS — Barbara Ann Broadhead, 72, of South Paris, formerly of Harrison, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris after a battle with cancer. Her loving family and best friend were by her side.

She was born April 10, 1940 in Torrington, CT, the daughter of Benjamin and Louise (Gillette) Weingart. Along with her sisters, Elizabeth and Dorothy, she graduated from high school in North Andover, MA. She married Tom A. Broadhead in 1960. She and her husband moved to Harrison in 1976 where they bought Vacationland Campground, which they ran for the next 25 years. During the last 29 years, she also worked as a secretary for Oxford Hills school district, primarily in the middle school administration office where she was well known to many in the community. She enjoyed camping, holidays and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Broadhead is survived by her loving husband, Tom; her five children, Sharon Imbert and her husband Edward of Dover-Foxcroft, Tom and his partner Edie of Laurel, VA; Susan Bundy and her partner Dan of South Paris, Garrett and his partner Jessica of New Durham, NH and Andrew and his wife Lorinda of Baltimore, MD as well as their children, Edward, Ian, Jordan, Eric, Allison, Jamie, Kathryn, Jarret, Jacob, Ethan and Gwen. She also is survived by her brother-in-law, Lewis Becker and her nieces and nephews and their spouses, Linda and Bill, Allen and Shirley, Melissa and Nick, Andrea and Pierre as well as her best friends Ronnie and Steve Payzant and Jackie D’Amillo. She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, August 24 from 4-8 p.m. at Oxford Hills & Weston Funeral Home, 1037 Main St, Route 26, Oxford. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
