NORWAY — Helen C. Farrar of Norway left this world to be at peace, free of pain and sickness on August 5, 2012, which was also her nephew, Bobby Crockett’s birthday. She lived a blessed 90 years with lots of friends and family in her life.

Helen Bernice Crockett was born in Greenwood on May 16, 1922, the daughter of Charles W. and Mary L. (Leonard) Crockett. She was a graduate of Gould Academy in Bethel. She married George “Dean” Farrar on October 21, 1950. They lived in Locke Mills on the East Bethel Road for many, many years. She worked for Ekco Wood Products in Locke Mills until her retirement. After her husband's passing, she sold her home on the East Bethel Road and moved to Sudbury Village in Bethel. She then moved to Buck Hill Apartments in South Paris to be closer to her daughter, Shirley.

Eventually Mrs. Farrar needed a little assistance with day to day tasks and moved to Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center. She made many, many friends at Norway Rehab including all of the staff. She was known as “Gram” to quite a few of the nurses. She was always excited to see what Georgia Cram had come up with for activities. She loved playing bingo and pokeno and was very excited when she won a game or two. Of course, shopping was high on her priority list so she could buy more shoes and purses!

She was so excited to know that she was going to meet her great-great-granddaughter, Georgia Paisley Morse, in early July. On July 5, she met her, and couldn’t stop talking about how precious Georgia was. That was the last true smile that she gave. Unfortunately, she was not feeling well enough to meet her other great-great-grandchildren, Xander, Peyton, Mattea and Kiptyn Reichenbach, who were here in Maine from Florida in July.

“Gram” will be truly missed by many, many family members and friends, especially her (four legged) great-great-grandson, Kodiak Morse. Kodiak enjoyed their special visits every Sunday morning.

Mrs. Farrar is survived by her son-in-law, Charles E. Morse of South Paris; her grandsons, C. Kelly Morse and his wife Pat of Wilton and Darren Dean Morse and his wife Corinna of Harrison; great-grandchildren, Scott Morse and his wife JoAnna of Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada and their daughter Georgia Paisley; Jessica (Morse) Reichenbach and her husband Josh of Hilliard, FL and their children, Xander, Peyton, Mattea and Kiptyn and Chris Barron and his girlfriend Carmen of Wilton. Mrs. Farrar was the Matriarch of the Crockett family and will be truly missed by all of her nieces and nephews, but especially by very special nieces and nephews, Esther Wilson, Grace Gibson, Jackie Szczesny, Charlotte Kimball, Butch Crockett, Kenneth Crockett and Howard Crockett and a special person that called her his second Mom, Don Waterhouse. Her niece Darla Robertson was the last family member to visit before her passing. That will always be a special moment for both Mrs. Farrar and Darla.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband, George “Dean” Farrar; her beloved daughter, Shirley A. (Crockett) Morse; brothers, George, Jonathan and Ernest; sisters, Gladys, Ruth, Lena and Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

She will be especially missed by Darren, Corinna and Kodiak Morse, who took care of all of her extra wants and needs. She so looked forward to their visits each weekend. If they were running late, she would call to make certain they were on their way to see her. She loved knowing that Kodiak would start whining as soon as they hit the start of Marion Avenue. He knew where he was going. He had to always give "Gram" her weekend kisses and when Kodiak was younger, he would play with her hair! She would tell so many people about the love that her Kodiak gave her.

At Mrs. Farrar's request, there was only a graveside service, which was held on Wednesday, August 8 at the East Bethel Cemetery on Intervale Road in Bethel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center Residential Activity Fund, or to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, Andrews Chapel, 64 Andrews Rd., Bryant Pond.
