BUCKFIELD — Caroline Mary (Gammon) Scott, 90, of Buckfield, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center in Norway. She was born on January 13, 1922 to Alma and Gertrude (Dunn) Gammon, the sixth of seven children. She first attended school at the age of three when she tagged along after her older brothers and sisters as they walked the half mile down the road to the one room schoolhouse in East Buckfield. She completed her elementary education in East Buckfield, then attended and graduated from Buckfield High School.

She married her high school sweetheart, Daniel (Danny) W. Scott on August 31, 1940. From that time on she dedicated herself to being a devoted wife and mother, always putting her family first. She was an accomplished baker; her molasses cookies and homemade pies were the stuff of legend. She was also an excellent gardener, who preserved many quarts of vegetables and fruit for the family table. She enjoyed sewing and always made “first day of school” dresses for her daughters when they were young. She also worked outside the home for many years as a clerk at Tilton’s Market in Buckfield.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her children, Jane Hicks and husband Kennard of Buckfield, Glen and wife Cynthia of Buckfield and Marcia Thompson and husband Merton of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Matthew Hicks and wife Heather of Lafayette, CO, Heather Fisher and husband Steve of Ardmore, PA, Cassie Violette and husband Scott of Buckfield, Chelsey Boucher of TN, Melissa Thompson of Washington, DC and Melanie Thompson of St. Paul, MN; great-grandchildren, Erik and Logan Hicks, Sophia and Maxwell Fisher and Kelsey and McKinley Violette; a sister, Edith Lowell and many nieces and nephews.
