George E. Emerson
NORWAY — George E. Emerson, 50, of Norway passed away on July 12, 2012 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
He was born on December 4, 1961, the son of Edwin Emerson, Jr and Joan Marr. He graduated from Oxford Hills High School in 1980. After high school, George worked for the Forest Service in Maine and Montana. He also worked as a truck driver and in construction. George earned his auctioneer’s license and would assist at many auctions.
George was well-known for his antique business, Red Beard’s Antiques. He was always looking for a deal to buy and sell.
He spent lots of time going to auctions and flea markets. George loved being around family and friends. He enjoyed spending time outdoors. George had a wonderful sense of humor and loved visiting with people.
He married Cathy Scribner and together they had three children, Katy, Alyssa, and Andrew Emerson.
George is survived by his daughters, Katy Emerson and Alyssa Emerson of South Paris, his son, Andrew Emerson of South Paris. His mother, Joan Marr of South Waterford. His sisters, Donna Emerson of Lewiston; Elizabeth Quick of Oxford; Nancy Graiver of Bridgton; Carole Marr of Norway; Marcia Emerson of Portland, Linda Pendexter of Bridgton; Cindi Hamlin of Florida; Beth Frost of Naples and brothers Alden Emerson of Norway; Eddie Emerson III of Biddeford; Frank Marr of Rumford; Wally Hamlin of Waterford and Randy Henley of Waterford.
Other survivors include many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and close friends.
A private service will be held for family and close friends on Sunday, July 22 at 2 p.m. at 1121 Crockett Ridge Road in Norway.
