SOUTH PARIS — Isadore G. (Edwards) VonKahle, 92, of South Paris died Saturday evening, June 23, 2012 at Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center in Norway. She was born in Poland, May 20, 1920, the daughter of Channing E. and Helen M. Kimball Edwards. She grew up in Poland and attended Poland schools. She married Harry L. Whittum and with him had a family of eight children in Otisfield. In July of 1968 she married Kermit (Leon) VonKahle.

During her adult life, she had been employed at the Royal River Packing Co., and the Burnham and Morrill Corn Shop. She also worked at some of the area campgrounds preparing them to open up for the summer. She immensely enjoyed gardening and had this marvelous green thumb that revived many plants. She favored dancing and fishing, as well as many long drives through the White mountains of New Hampshire with her daughters.

Mrs. VonKahle had resided with and received wonderful care from her daughter Valma and husband Hank Walker for a year. When her health condition worsened, she became a resident of the Norway Rehabilitation and Living Center for the past two years.

Survivors include her husband of South Paris; her daughters, Helen and husband Frank McCowen of South Paris, Valma and husband Errol (Hank) Walker of South Paris, Ruth and husband Ronald Paine of Oxford, Patsy and husband Joseph Ryan of Lewiston and Nancy and husband Robert Snape of Lisbon Falls; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Sharon E. Whittum; two sons, Robert M. and Harry L. Whittum, Jr. and a step-brother, Ed Mann.

Family and friends attended graveside services Wednesday, June 27 at the Edwards Family Cemetery, Johnson Hill Road, West Poland.
