Helen Lillian Mickols
STONEHAM — Helen Lillian (Paul) Mickols, 86, of Lowell, MA, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, died after a long battle with cancer at the home of her daughter, Terry, in Stoneham, Maine, Saturday, June 23, 2012.
Born in Dracut, Ma. on April 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Hollingsworth) Paul. Helen spent her childhood years between Dracut and Lowell, Ma. She was a graduate of Lowell High School and furthered her education at Bradshaw Secretarial School.
She worked at Pollards Department Store, Cleighton Paper Box Company, Sylvania, as well as the IRS in Andover Ma.
Helen is predeceased by her husband, Chester W. Mickols and two sisters, Gertrude Breen and Marjorie Smallwood.
She is survived by three daughters including Dr. Terry Mickols-Nunes and her husband, Bob, of Stoneham, Maine with whom she resided, Jacqueline Levine and her husband, Howard, of Nashua, NH and Linda Pongonis of Panama City Beach, Florida. She is also survived by one granddaughter, Kymberly Levine and her fiancé, Ross Parke, of New York City, NY and four grandsons including Benjamin Levine of Nashua, NH, Robert Pongonis of California, Albert Pongonis and his wife, Paolla, of Florida and Russell Pongonis of Colorado.
Calling hours are 4 - 8 p.m., Thursday, June 28, at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816. Services are Friday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
