Kevin B. Haines
NORWAY — Kevin B. Haines, 63, of Norway passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013. He was born in Littleton, NH on August 20, 1949, son of David and Ruth (Wyer) Haines. He graduated from Canton High School and attended Kents Hill Prep School where he played football. He served his country in the United States Marines; during that time he guarded the Pentagon. He went to Bates College and graduated with a BA degree in History.
Throughout his working career, he worked as a security guard at the Pentagon, Positively Maine Street as a bartender and No Tomatoes as a waiter; he was Postmaster at the Greenville Post Office and then worked in different Postal Departments, the last as a Savings Bond Salesman.
He was a member of the Masonic AF & AM Oxford Lodge. He was an avid fsherman and hunter and enjoyed playing golf.
Mr. Haines is survived by his son, Zachary J. Haines; brother, Alan Haines of Worcester, MA; sisters, Linda Haines of Medford, MA and Janet Haines of Needham, MA and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends attended a visitation on Thursday, February 28 at Oxford Hills and Weston Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Route 26, Oxford. A memorial service was held on Friday, March 1 at the First Congregational Church, 17 E. Main St., South Paris, with a reception following downstairs in the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The American Cancer Society, 1 Main Street, Topsham, ME 04086.
