Lucille V. Ray
OXFORD — Lucille “Lucy” V. (Colby) Ray, 76, of Oxford went to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at her home in Oxford with her family by her side. She was born in Lewiston on March 26, 1936, the daughter of Harold and Evelyn Nason Colby. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1953. On April 16, 1955 she married Melcon Ray; he passed away on September 6, 1993.
She worked in many shoe shops as an office manager, retiring in 2001 from Clark International. She was an activities volunteer at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. She loved taking her grandchildren fishing and sitting with her grandson to do crossword puzzles. She enjoyed crocheting, bird watching and reading. She was a life member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1603 in Auburn as well as serving as past district president. She loved being with her daughters and especially her grandchildren. She was so excited knowing she was going to be a great-grandmother.
She loved her God. Her values of God, family and country have been instilled in her family. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Mrs. Ray will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda and husband Thomas Pearl of Oxford and Vickie and husband Jeff Ramos of Harpswell; her grandchildren, Jeremy Flint of Oxford, Brian Flint and fiancée Renee Gauthier of Oxford, Amanda Flint of Portland, Jeffrey Ramos of Massachusetts, Jenna Ramos of Breckenridge, CO; a step-great-grandson, Gavin; a great-grandson on the way, Colby Ray Flint; her best friend, Nancy Drumtra of OK; sisters-in-law, Mary Ray and Dolly Jordan; brother-in-law, Donald and Mary Ray and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband and sisters, Geraldine Childs, Elizabeth (Betty) Bruno, Florence Coulombe and Elizabeth Peterson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls. Family and friends may attend visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the spring at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
