PARIS — Norman R. Cyr, 84, of South Paris passed away very peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris. He was born in Madawaska on January 14, 1929, son of Larry and Claire (Martin) Cyr. He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

Dot (Shaw) from Norway and Mr. Cyr from Madawaska met and married in Guatemala in 1958. They celebrated their golden anniversary on May 30, 2008.

A graduate of Bentley College, he worked many years for different factories, the last being the American Fruit Co. as an accountant. He was a member of the Lions Club.

Mr. Cyr is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Jo Cyr Mutty, of Deerfield, MA, Susan Cyr of Nevada and Robert E. Cyr of California; brother, Normand Cyr; sister, Juliette Grandmaison and two grandchildren, Aron and Sarah.

Family and friends attended a visitation on Wednesday, February 13 at Oxford Hills and Weston Funeral Services, 1037 Main St., Route 26, Oxford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Catherines of Sienna, Paris St., Norway. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 383 IS Route 1, Suite 2C, Scarborough, ME 04074.
