SAD 17 board OKs school-wide plan
OXFORD — Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School is pursuing ambitious goals for the 2012-2013 school year and beyond.
Four goals for the school were included in a school-wide plan approved unanimously by the SAD 17 Board of Directors Monday evening.
Increasing graduation rates at OHCHS by 2 percent and reducing drop-out rates by 1.5 percent for each of the next three years is the school's first goal.
The school also wants to ensure effective classroom instruction and increase best practice implementation, boost test scores by 1 point per year in all four content areas and 2 points per year in sub-group areas and increase communication between OHCHS and the middle school.
"I'm very impressed with the goals," board member Bill Hanger told OHCHS Principal Ted Moccia.
"You're going to have to work hard to achieve them."
Moccia said the school was in transition, particularly with new common core standards requirements and staff would assess progress and look at the goals again over the summer.
Increasing communication between the middle and high school was already up and running, Moccia said, especially to help middle school students with high school curriculum and workload.
