Why is what Martin Luther King did important?

Photo:

It's important because if he didn't do what he did, segregation wouldn't have ended when it did. We might not have Obama as president and we wouldn't be comfortable being mixed in yet.

It’s important because if MLK hadn’t changed things, it would still be the same. We wouldn’t be able to spend time with the people we do now. He changed so many people’s lives and if he hadn’t they wouldn’t be here today.

MLK’s actions were important because he didn’t care what others thought. He stood up for himself and what he believed in. He believed that no matter the color of your skin, everyone should have equal opportunities in life.

MLK stood up for what he believed in. He put it into powerful speaking, honesty and gave America an awareness of what was happening and how it could be improved.

It opened everyone’s eyes − it wasn’t fair what was happening. It changed segregation and the signs that said ‘white people here’ and ‘black people there.’

What MLK did is important because he showed that if you’re a different race or color, you can still have dreams and accomplish what you want in life.

Besides the fact that he fought for equality, MLK showed the world that you can fight for what’s right. He’s a symbol that shows you can stand up for what you believe in and make a change.

MLK was such a big advocate at the time for African Americans. He believed all people are equal and everyone deserves equal rights.

It's the beginning of the end of major racial discrimination, like lynching and segregation. We probably wouldn't have a black president without it having happened.
