Why is what Martin Luther King did important?
It's important because if he didn't do what he did, segregation wouldn't have ended when it did. We might not have Obama as president and we wouldn't be comfortable being mixed in yet.

It’s important because if MLK hadn’t changed things, it would still be the same. We wouldn’t be able to spend time with the people we do now. He changed so many people’s lives and if he hadn’t they wouldn’t be here today.

Besides the fact that he fought for equality, MLK showed the world that you can fight for what’s right. He’s a symbol that shows you can stand up for what you believe in and make a change.
