SLIPPERY — Patches of ice and small branches in the middle of Greenwood Road in Norway caused this 2003 Ford Escape, driven by 25-year-old Daniel Robichaud, of Greenwood, to slide off the road and into a utility pole around 6:15 a.m. January 10, reported Officer Robert Federico II, of the Norway Police Department. According to Federico, Robichaud was driving southbound around a sharp corner when he lost control of the vehicle. He said Robichaud over corrected, which caused the vehicle to do a 90-degree turn and catch some soft snow on the opposite side of the road with its front end before he spun about another 90 degrees and slammed into the pole. According to Federico, Robichaud received minor lacerations to his right hand and was transported by PACE ambulance to Stephens Memorial Hospital to have it x-rayed. The vehicle, however, was totaled, Federico said.
