Paris to sell old fire station

PARIS — The town may finally have found a buyer for the old fire station on Pine Street.

The board of selectmen voted to accept an offer of $25,000 for the building from Sandra and Terry Swett following an executive session on December 11.

The town has been trying to sell the old station for years.

"So it does pay to be patient," quipped Ryan Lorrain following the vote.

The sale is contingent on an inspection of the building by the prospective owners. Town Manager Amy Bernard said the building's water and electricity would be turned on for the Swett's inspection.

The station building has been empty since the fire department moved to its new station on Western Avenue over nine years ago.

In May, board members rejected a $15,000 bid for the building, claiming the amount was too low and hired a real estate agent to sell the property.
