Ice on road causes SUV to flip, driver not injured

ICY ROADS — Around 7:45 a.m. on November 23, a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by Thomas Hird, 17, of Lewiston, rolled over on Route 121 in Oxford after Hird lost control of the vehicle due to ice on the road, said Oxford Police Lieutenant Michael Ward. According to Ward, Hird was not injured in the accident and no other vehicles were involved. Hird's parents arrived on scene to pick him up, said Ward. According to Ward, the vehicle was totaled and towed away by Western Maine Towing and Recovery.
