Dristrict will try for STEM grant next year

OXFORD  HILLS — The SAD 17 school district was not chosen to receive a $3 million education grant, but intends to apply again next year.

Superintendent Rick Colpitts informed the school board, during its November 19 meeting, that the district was not included in a list of 20 i3 grant recipients.

The district had not yet received its scores, but was eager to see the results and determine how the district could do better next time, Colpitts said.

The grant would have provided funding for professional development related to science, technology, mathematics and engineering. Funding was also intended to start a STEM School at the middle school.
