DESTROYED — A single-story wood home with an attached two-car garage at 42 East Oxford Road, owned by Cedric Bean, was destroyed in a fire that started Friday night, according Paris Fire Chief Brad Frost. He said firefighters were called to the scene around 9:20 p.m. Friday to extinguish the blaze, which started in the basement and traveled into the house. According to Frost, firefighters from Paris, Norway, Oxford, Poland and Hebron responded to the fire and fully extinguished it within three-and-a-half hours. He said no one was home when the fire started. According to Frost the fire was out at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, when firefighters checked the home, but emergency crews and PACE were called back to the scene at 2:22 a.m. because it had rekindled. The state fire marshal was on scene Saturday to investigate what caused the fire. Frost said Monday that a cause has not yet been determined, although he does deem it suspicious.
