IN THE SPOTLIGHT — Veterans from the local American Legion and VFW sit on front of an assembly of K-6 students Monday and await their turn to speak about their experience at war. Students, teachers and parents opened the assembly by singing the Star Spangled Banner and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. Paris Elementary School Principal Jane Fahey said the assembly was meant to help students understand what it means to be a veteran and to honor them for their service.
