Should H.S. students be required to complete community service?

Yes, I think it's a great idea. It's a good way to encourage civic participation and teach values a lot of kids don't have. It gives a different perspective about life.

I don't like the words "community service." You shouldn't be forced. It should be something you want to do. But I do like that our school has a senior project.

I don't think so. I've done community service before. It stinks.

Yes. It would be a good experience. Plus, they can meet other people and learn what the world out there is like.

I think so. I think it teaches responsibility and gives people experiences that they'll have with them their entire lives.

Yes, I think they should. It brings a sense of belonging and teaches students responsibility.

I don't think so. Time should be spent on education. There will be time for that [community service] after graduation.

No, because if it's something they don't want to do, they probably won't do it well and won't be of much service to the community.

No. I think it's a wonderful thing, but I think it adds a burden to their schedule that they don't need. It could be for extra credit, but should not be required.

Yeah. It builds their character.
