Head-on collision sends drivers to hospital
HEAD-ON — A 2000 Subaru Legacy, driven by 22-year-old Danielle Giansanti, of Norway, front, and a Nissan Versa, driven by David Foster, 69, from Oxford, back, were totaled after colliding with one another on Coldwater Brook Road in Oxford around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, said Oxford Police Lieutenant Michael Ward. According to Ward, Giansanti was transported to Stephens Memorial Hospital for minor facial injuries and Foster was transported by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for serious injuries.
OXFORD — A head-on collision on Coldwater Brook Road Tuesday afternoon sent the drivers of both vehicles to the hospital, according to Oxford Police Lieutenant Michael Ward.
Danielle Giansanti, 22, of Norway, driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy, received facial injuries after a head-on collision with a Nissan Versa, driven by a 69-year-old David Foster of Oxford, said Ward.
Ward said a person jogging down the road was hit by flying car parts when the cars collided, but was not injured.
According to Ward, Giansanti was sent to Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway but has been treated and released. Foster was flown by LifeFlight to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for serious injuries, said Ward.
Published reports say Foster was listed in fair condition at CMMC Tuesday night – the type and extent of his injuries have not been disclosed.
The October 2 crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. The cause is still being investigated by police, said Ward.
Both cars were towed by Willie's Repair in Paris, he said.
According to Ward, Foster was trapped inside his vehicle following the crash and had to be extricated by rescue workers.
Oxford Fire Rescue, State Trooper Dan Hanson and Paris Police Lieutenant Mike Dailey assisted with the accident reconstruction.
