BETHEL — Charleen Chase, the former CEO of Community Concepts, has announced that she is seeking election for Oxford County Commissioner to represent Bethel, Brownfield, Fryeburg, Hanover, Hiram, Lovell, Norway, Porter, Stow, Sweden and Waterford.

With a reputation as a proven and trusted leader in her 32 years with Community Concepts, Chase was known for instilling a results-driven culture throughout the organization. Chase and her team received many state and national awards for development of program models designed and delivered at the community level. Her legacy of inclusive, long-range planning still characterizes the organization today.

Chase says that town officials and residents have urged her to return to public service to initiate closer working relationships between the County Commission and its constituents – town governments, private sector organizations and county residents. Chase stated, “If we are to move forward in a productive and positive way, we need to plan and pull together - and be less reactive.”

Chase earned her education and business degrees from Thomas College. Thomas Magazine, winter 2003 edition, featured Charleen Chase “Leading from the Heart, noting "The concept of responsibility, of neighbors helping neighbors and working collaboratively to improve the quality of life for all, is empowering. Believing that we are all potential leaders is at the heart of Community Concept’s success, and at the heart of Charleen Chase’s personal commitment to herself, the organization and the community.”

Chase lived in Norway for many years and continues to support Norway Main Street and community projects. She now lives in Bethel where she is active in the Senior College and with local recreation groups. She is currently serving as a consultant in the public and private sectors, specializing in healthcare.

Charleen narrowly lost the 2008 race in a recount and hopes to be successful in the upcoming November 6 election. E-mail charleenchase@gmail.com or check out Facebook:www.facebook.com/electchase.
