NORWAY — State Representative Tom Winsor, R-Norway, announces he is a candidate for re-election to the Maine House of Representatives for District 95.

“I have been honored to serve the citizens of Greenwood, Norway, Waterford and West Paris as a state representative for 10 years. I have worked hard to be an effective leader in the Legislature, but most of all I enjoy helping constituents who contact me, often in frustration, for help. I know my 10 years’ experience will enable me to be even more effective in the future,” said Rep. Winsor.

“I believe our state government can be more efficient and effective if our money is spent carefully and thoughtfully. We must be willing to set priorities if we wish to create an environment where any who want a job can find one that pays a living wage, where hard work is rewarded, and where our children do not have to leave home to find their fortune.”

“I have served for eight years on the budget writing committee. Last term, we were challenged by significant reductions in federal revenue sharing and essentially flat state tax revenues. By working together, we set priorities and increased the money appropriated to local educational funding and municipal aid. All the while, our social service safety net continues to help those truly in need. Our budgets passed with more than two-thirds support of both houses of the Legislature.”

Representative Winsor has served on the Joint Standing Committee of Appropriations and Financial Affairs for eight years. Winsor served as Register of Probate for Oxford County for six years and on the MSAD 17 School Board.

He currently works part time as a software consultant. A retired real estate broker and property manager, he owned and operated TRIAD Enterprises, a small corporation that sold manufactured housing and installed and serviced heating systems in the Oxford Hills.

Winsor graduated from the University of Maine and served in the U.S. Navy. He has been a member of the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce for more than 30 years, where he served as a director.

Winsor is a member of the Norway-Paris Kiwanis Club, a lifetime member of the Norway-Paris Fish and Game Club and a member the American Legion. He served on the board of the Maine Appalachian Trail Club, Child Health Center and R.E.A.C.H. He is currently a board member and vice president of Western Maine Transportation.

Rep. Winsor and his wife, Patricia, have three grown children and three grandchildren.
