McInnis' Norway property faces condemnation

NORWAY — A public hearing has been scheduled for September 27 to address concerns regarding property owned by Patrick McInnis Sr., at 168 Main Street across from the hospital.

The property is a multi-unit rental property that is operating (renting units) without the required occupancy permit Norway Code Enforcement Officer Joelle Corey-Whitman told the planning board September 13.

She gave a brief history of her interaction with McInnis noting that a year ago she had discussed code violation issues with him and the fact there was no occupancy permit, and was assured things would be fixed.

She returned this year to find the same unit still rented and none of the code violations addressed.

She intends to ask the planning board to forward the property to the board of selectmen for condemnation procedures if the problems have not been addressed by September 27.
