Dane Tripp: The Cop - a message from Sheriff Wayne Gallant
THANK YOU — Captain Hart Daley of the Oxford County Sheriff's Office stands up to speak before presenting Oxford County Chief Deputy Dane Tripp a Sig Sauer handgun as a thank-you gift for his 20-plus years of service.
APPLAUDING — Folks from the Oxford County courts, the Oxford County Sheriff's Department and other area law enforcement stand up to applaud Oxford County Chief Deputy Dane Tripp during his farewell party in the Oxford County Superior Courtroom Tuesday afternoon. Friends and family were also present to support him.
Let's discuss a cop!
He is idealistic and believes he has made a difference.
He has always been immensely proud of the uniform and the badge and what they represent.
He feels priveleged to be of service to his department, his community and to his country.
He has been a cop.
He is friendly, courteous, polite, yet firm.
He laughs and jokes, but is serious when necessary.
He is competent, trained, and a professional.
He has been a cop.
He possesses a strong sense of right and wrong and becomes frustrated when true justice becomes sidetracked.
He has felt the sharp criticism that comes with the job, but he never wavered.
He has always stood by and for his fellow officers.
He has been a cop.
There were many times he longed for his family during the long hours.
He worried about them during his shifts and the lonely weekends, holidays and nights when they were apart.
He felt guilty about the lost time, but knew his calling and prayed they would understand.
He has been a cop.
He has been a good son, a loving husband, and a devoted father.
He is dedicated to the profession and cares about the people he has served.
He has wanted to do the best job that he could and strived to be the best he could be.
He is a marine, a good citizen, a good neighbor and a good friend.
He has been a cop.
We of the Christian faith believe that when our time on Earth has come that by grace through faith our Lord will invite [us into his kingdom] and sit at his table with the welcome words: Well [done] thy good and faithful servant.
Dane, I can't speak for the Lord this day but I can speak for the Oxford County Sheriff's Office, the law enforcement community and as your friend regarding your distinguished law enforcement career.
You will be able to walk away from here with your head high and I can confidently say to you: Job well done ... Job well done ... Job well done!
GOODBYE, GOOD LUCK — Chief Deputy Dane Tripp hugs Sheriff Wayne Gallant after Gallant delivered a farewell speech Tuesday afternoon at the courthouse in Paris during Tripp's retirement party. Tripp is retiring after 32 years in law enforcement. He is a 20-plus year veteran of the Oxford County Sheriff's Office.
