EXTRICATED — A crew from Poland Fire Rescue was on scene of an early morning crash Monday to extricate the driver from his pickup after he lost control of his steering, went off the road and into a ditch. According to police, multiple injuries received by the driver do not appear life-threatening but the vehicle is a total loss.

MECHANIC FALLS — A Naples man who crashed his GMC pickup on South Main Street Monday morning is being treated for multiple injuries, which do not currently appear life-threatening, said Mechanic Falls Police Officer James Avery.

Philip Hanson, 33, is being treated at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston for injuries caused when he lost control of his vehicle and went off the road at around 8:30 a.m., Avery said.

"He went off the road and into a ditch, then came up out of the ditch into a driveway," Avery explained.

Avery said damage to the truck was extensive and he believes it's a total loss.

"When he went down into the ditch, he struck a culvert, which then lifted the truck out of the ditch," said Avery. "That's what all the damage was from ... It's totaled."

According to Avery, no other vehicles were involved in the accident. Hanson did not have any passengers.

Avery said Hanson had to be extricated from the vehicle. Avery was unable to comment on the extent of Hanson's injuries but said they do not appear to be life-threatening.

Poland Fire Rescue was on scene to assist with extrication. Avery said the cause of the accident is still being investigated.

"It's undetermined at this time," he said.
