Republicans offer scholarship

To the Editor:

Open letter to all homeschooled Oxford County students

Now that 2013 is upon us, and similarly to the 2011-2012 school year, the Oxford County Republican Committee (OCRC) will be offering a $500 scholarship to that prep school, high school, trade school or homeschooled Oxford County resident, seeking a post high school education, who our Scholarship Committee feels best exemplifies Republican ideals.

All students who submit applications for this award will be judged on the following criteria: non-academic achievements, level of school related activity involvement, level of community involvement, leadership responsibilities, academic performance, letters of responsible support, and future public service involvement.

All candidates will also be obliged to submit a composition expressing what they have accomplished in the furtherance of Republican values.

Candidates will be asked to have submitted their applications, and to have them received by me, no later than Friday, March 29. The applications will then be evaluated by our Scholarship Committee with the winner being notified by May 1.

The winning participant will then be asked to attend our May full County meeting, currently scheduled to occur on May 9, for the award to be presented with his/her family present. The actual monies representing the scholarship will eventually be awarded once that recipient has presented to the Scholarship Committee his/her first semester freshman grades.

A scholarship form can be obtained by writing to me at P.O. Box #243, Norway, ME 04268.
