Thank you, Oxford Casino

To the Editor:

Oxford Casino has donated over 10,000 pounds of nonperishable food to three food pantries. Maine's Oxford Casino has been gathering food items with an in-house promotion that ran from December 3 to December 20, for the Oxford community.

Oxford Casino General Manager Jack Sours commented, "We are humbled by the generosity of all the casino guests who have brought several food items, enabling many families to have a happier holiday." He added, "We are pleased to help those who are struggling to keep their families fed, especially at this time of year."

Linda Laskey, volunteer at Poland Community Church Food Bank, said, "Oxford Casino's food promotion has made a significant contribution helping us serve families in the Poland, Mechanic Falls and Minot area."

On the second delivery day she expressed, "Staff could not believe how much food was donated, particularly at one of the most stressful times of the year for our needy families. The Oxford Casino also delivered the same amounts to both Oxford and Norway food pantries. We all say, 'Thank you, Oxford Casino.'"

Poland Community Church Food Bank was born 17 years ago. Presently, it is serving a monthly "hand-up" food box to 80 eligible household in Poland, Mechanic Falls and Minot.
