Children, not politics

To the Editor:

This is actually directed to whom ever was in charge of the Christmas Parade this year.

While the parade it self was good, the Santa at the end was not what people expected.

The Santa they had, while he may have been dressed in red and white, was by no means a replacement for the Santa Visits Oxford group.

After more than 20 years the president of the Chamber of Commerce had a tiff because instead of going to the so called Festiville of Trees last year, they did what they have always done and went to the Norway Fire house.

Now I maybe bias, as one of the founding members of the group, but as far as I am concerned the president of the COC can and should be replaced.

Politics should never enter into the parade. The parade and everyone in it are there for one purpose only, that is to put smiles on children's faces.

Now I have not been a member of the Santa Visits Oxford for a few years as my health prohibits it. But I am glad I was not a member this year to be snubbed by the Chamber of Commerce.

Tradition should take precedence over hidden agendas.
