GOP chair thanks volunteers

To the Editor:

It would be a serious mistake on my part if I, Tom Curtis, chairman of the Oxford County Republicans, did not publicly thank all of those volunteers who gave so much of their time, talent and treasure at our Oxford County Headquarters offices on Route 26 in Oxford.

The making of phone calls to prospective and registered voters from August right up to and including November 6, Election Day, as well as the staffing requirements of keeping that office open to the general public, was all organized and administered by Delian Valeriani of Hebron.

This was all accomplished while holding down a full-time job; he is to be commended for his organizational skills and easy-going temperament.

I would also be remiss if I did not publicly thank the following for their ongoing efforts in support of Republican candidates; it has truly been an honor to get to know and work with all of these wonderful people.

These volunteers are Barbara Henley, Donna Dodge, Harvey Lord, Ruth Feeney, Joan Putnam, Sidney Gordan, Diana Holcomb, Skip Foley, Myron Goodrich, Linda Young, Joann Hill, Hazel Minard, Bert Rugg, Paul Villa, Carol Archambault, Harlan Johnson, Fred Truman, Rick Sumner, Howard Palmer, Brad Saunders, Brian O’Leary, Brice Conant, Pete Leverdiere, Beverly Laverdiere, Richard Begin, Jerry Burnell, Pat Burnell, Dennis Doyon, Betsy Doyon, Gino Valeriani, Patricia Valeriani, Stan Harmon, Paula Smith, Pat Winsor, Paul Ramsey, Bettyann Hastings, Tim Gallant, Barbara Robinson, Joe Lyons, Carmen Doughty, Arlan Jodrey, Ellie Jodrey, Kimberly Clarks, Tally Deint, Carlene Trembley and Diane Jackson.

If I have forgotten anyone, please forgive me as it was most certainly not intentional.

A very special thanks goes out to Marge Ripley who gave more of her time at the Headquarters than anyone could possibly hope to match and imagine and to Priscilla and George Cunningham of Fryeburg who graciously allowed all booth staffers at the Fryeburg Fair to park their vehicles in their driveway.

In addition to the above, I would like to also thank the team at WOXO, Norway, of Dick Gleason, Vic Hodgkins and Jay Phillips who helped us to participate in a live broadcasting from our Oxford Headquarters on Election Day.

This was a three-hour time segment when all Republican candidates were able to converse with Jay and to the listening public about why they wanted to run for a county office and their positions on subjects and issues near and dear to all of us.

Last and certainly not least, a very heartfelt thank you to Dennis Arsenault and Tim Adams of Arsenault’s Satellite TV, 29 Main Street, Norway who installed at their expense a large screen TV so that on Election night, all election related activity and results from across the country could be easily seen and heard.

I urge everyone to avail themselves of their products and services.

Tom Curtis
