Burglary at Oxford Hills Christian Fellowship

To the Editor:

Related to the robbery at the Oxford Hills Christian Fellowship, one noteworthy thing to consider is that if we were a Muslim mosque, the media would be all over the place, claiming that a "hate crime" was committed and the perpetrators must be found and punished to the full extent of the law.

If you recall, a few years ago in Lewiston, a pig's head was thrown into a mosque. That act alone was considered a "hate crime" and the police, along with other investigative resources, were dispatched to find out who did this horrible thing.

A thorough investigation was quickly performed and the culprit was captured and brought to justice. As I recall, they were forced to apologize and may have even spent some time behind bars.

Now this is not a slam against the Norway Police. They did their job and they were just telling it like it is. Other than reporting the serial numbers, probably nothing else would happen and the thieves would probably never be caught and brought to justice.

That just goes to show that Christians no longer have the protection we once enjoyed in this nation. Sad, but true. However, we serve a God who is all knowing and all powerful, and he says that vengeance is His. We are to not take matters into our own hands.

That responsibility, the Lord has reserved for Himself. We are to just keep on keeping on, doing the work that we were called to do, and that is to preach the gospel and reach for the soul of man with the Word of God.

He said that He would take care of the rest. It is a wonderful thing to be able to leave this sort of stuff in the hands of God. We are safer that way, and He is glorified in the fact that we are steadfastly going forward in His will.

Brother Jaynes, and others as well, were heard praying Saturday night for the souls of those who were involved. They need God just as much as we do.

They just need to learn that themselves and that the Lord is the Great Teacher.
