Puppy mill protest set

To the Editor:

Maine Citizens Against Puppy Mills will be hosting a peaceful protest in front of Pawsitively Pets on the Payne Rd. in Scarborough on Sunday, August 19 from 4 to 6 p.m.

This pet shop, along with every other pet shop in Maine, only sell pups/kittens from large scale breeding facilities from the midwest. M.C.A.P.M. has hundreds of pages of violations for the "breeders" the pet shops use.

USDA reports the abuse and neglect the parents of the pet shop pup must endure so they may supply this country with hundreds of thousands of pups/kittens each year. More often than not, they live in a wire-bottomed cage their entire lives.

It is important to educate the public as to where the pups/kittens come from, to save Maine's consumers from having to spend hundreds of dollars, most times thousands of dollars, on a sick pet shop pup or kitten for vet bills. Not to mention the heartache.
