Self-serving AARP comments

To the Editor:

I found the comments offered by Jane Magnus, the AARP Volunteer, amusing and more than a little self-serving. AARP, after all, is largely an insurance company that stands to earn quite literally billions of dollars on Obamacare in the next 10 years.

With a straight face she tells us senior citizens that Obamacare is a boon to us. Perhaps she can explain why taking $500 billion dollars out of Medicare makes it better for us?

Since a recent poll found that 83% of American doctors have given serious thought to giving up their practices (mine tell me that they are retiring before it hits) rather than suffer under the boot heel of the government dictated disaster, where will we find doctors to minister to us?

It is projected that America will have a shortage of 91,500 doctors by 2020, hardly good news for seniors. Despite the lies, we now learn that there will indeed be panels deciding our treatment options, is this better Jane? Obamacare totally eliminates Medicare Advantage plans, enjoyed by numerous seniors.

Funny she didn’t mention that! Many of the tax increases necessary to help fund this plan that promises free stuff to everyone will fall on seniors disproportionately, not an encouraging prospect to those on a fixed income.

Finally Jane, if Obamacare is truly so wonderful, why did AARP ask for, and receive, permission to opt out of it? Your organization doesn’t want to touch Obamacare with a 10-foot pole, yet you want us to suffer under it while you reap the financial rewards.

Shame on AARP for selling us out, I’m just glad I’m not a member.
