Setting the record straight
To the Editor:
I am a citizen of Poland who cares about her community. I have kept silent for years of the slanderous comments and the libel comments made about me. I chose to remain silent and not file legal proceedings, in hopes that the community will see the truth. I hope I can set the record straight.
My goal is to have a community that works together in an honest, productive, transparent way. I will stand up for what is right, even if I stand alone. I will not be bullied nor bribed by anyone. I will also fight for what is right and fair for all citizens.
This has never been about me; it's about doing the right thing, equality for all and having morals. I hope someday the citizens of Poland will see through the smoke screen created by the not so kind.
In regards to Mr. Greg Herrick's letter to the Editor on March 14,2013, I would like to write a rebuttal.
I am very proud of the citizens of Poland for stepping up and following through with the recall and election of the new selectmen. I have the utmost confidence in the newly elected selectmen to follow procedures and to lead our town into a bright future with integrity.
I hope someday to be able to sit on the board to help this community grow in a productive way. I urge the citizens to become more involved and civic minded as we need more citizen involvement. I am sure the new selectmen are more than welcoming to this.
First on Mr. Herrick's list, he accuses Ms. Kulow of allowing the library to use their own money for investments? Where did he get this information? Is this the correct information?
I would verify and check my facts before making any statements. It is a very easy thing to do, call the library trustees or call Ms. Kulow. I am sure you will find a totally different story.
I can tell you for a fact that I (Michelle Arsenault) did not bring forth the recall committee. I admit that I was a member of this recall committee but as I said, I was a just a member who saw injustice being done. This recall was not just about firing Ms. Kulow, it was the way they conducted themselves.
They did not follow proper procedure. It was also all the other things they have done and the way they treated their fellow townspeople/citizens.
I am unsure as to why Mr. Herrick is telling untruths about me? I have only done what every citizen should do. Get to know their town! I admit to asking questions but what citizen wouldn't? I found out things that certain members of the town didn't want me to learn.
We need community involvement, we need to know what is going on in our town. We need transparency. For the record, I did not know Mr. Chick, I asked questions to Mr. Lee and to Ms. Kulow.
The only one gracious enough to give me correct answers was Ms. Kulow. She was a breath of fresh air to the town. She was very professional and did things by the book.
As far as the privacy of citizens and the information being leaked, this is not the truth. If someone should have extensive research skills, it is very easy to find information.
I have done it myself. Mr. Herrick, you stated that Ms. Kulow allowed the library to do what they wanted with their money and made it seem like that is why she was fired? Even though this is false, is this not confidential information? Who told you this?
About the attacks on Mrs. Roy, I have never heard of any attacks on Mrs. Roy. I do know for a fact that there have been many complaints about her unprofessionalism. She has been very disrespectful to some citizens and employees of Poland. We do not run a town like this. This is a business and anyone treating a customer or another employee like this would be let go.
Next I would like to discuss the spending of taxpayers money on the house next to the library. The citizens of Poland voted to buy this house at the last town meeting. Were you there Mr. Herrick?
It was voted for and they had to do it, the people have spoken. The library trustees are a handful of people, they were not even directly involved. A majority of citizens voted for this sale. If it was such a big issue with you, then why didn't you convince more townspeople to show up for the meeting.
The only flaw I see in this town is there needs to be more citizen involvement. I understand citizens have a life but you can't complain about something if you are not involved.
So for the future Mr. Herrick, be involved in productive ways within the town. Should you want to know anything about me, feel free to contact me.
