False assertions

To the Editor:

Misstatements by Kim Waite in her February 21 letter have been repeated and compounded by Kristen Brownell. First, there is no constitutional right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

Second, the United States Supreme Court has clearly and consistently determined that the Constitution's second amendment right to keep and bear arms is unequivocally an individual right outside of a militia (District of Columbia v. Heller, 2008 and McDonald v. Chicago, 2010).

The patently false assertions of "fact" in these letters are misleading and self-defeating. Without basic factual knowledge there can be no reasonable discussion.
