PARIS —  A driver who was under the influence of alcohol early Tuesday was arrested for driving at 120 mph through Market Square and possessing oxycodone.

Roy D. McGraw, 51, of Rumford, was arrested just after midnight for operating under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle after revocation, possession of w,x,y drug and speeding 30-plus over the speed limit, reported Paris Police Chief Mike Dailey.

Dailey said McGraw was seen driving his 2007 Subaru Outback near High Street in West Paris when Paris Police Officer Harry Sims noticed one of McGraw's headlights was out and tried pulling him over.

As Officer Sims caught up to the Subaru he realized McGraw was accelerating away from him at a high rate of speed, Dailey said.

"At one point he estimated the vehicle to be heading toward Market Square at about 120 miles per hour, according to the report," Dailey said.

According to Dailey, McGraw drove up Gothic Street in Paris, where he finally pulled over to the side of the road.

Dailey said McGraw was not only arrested for the broken headlight and criminal speeding, but also possessed seven oxycodone pills and was determined to have been operating his vehicle under the influence of alcohol at twice the legal limit.

McGraw has two prior OUI charges from 2009, Dailey said.

According to Dailey, operating a motor vehicle after revocation, operating under the influence and possessing oxycodone are felony offenses.

McGraw is currently being held at Oxford County Jail on $1,000 cash bail.
