OXFORD COUNTY — Sheriff Wayne J. Gallant and the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office are proud to announce that on October 2, Lieutenant Brian Landis was commissioned by Attorney General William J. Schneider as a Domestic Violence Detective. Lt. Landis joins the ranks of 25 other commissioned detectives in their tenacious fight against Domestic Violence in the State of Maine.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office now has four commissioned AG Detectives within its staff. The other three detectives are Captain Christopher Wainwright, Lieutenant Thomas Harriman and Chief Deputy Hart L. Daley.

The AG’s commission is an honor bestowed upon proven and trusted law enforcement investigators in the State of Maine. The commission affords the Detectives the authority to pursue suspects and continue investigations with statewide jurisdiction.

This privilege creates a streamlined process in which the detectives can expediently bring the suspects of Domestic Violence crimes to justice even if they flee the county/town where the crime was committed in their effort to avoid apprehension.

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the citizens of Oxford County that October is “Domestic Violence Awareness” month and ask that people take a proactive stance against Domestic Violence and report any incidents to local law enforcement.
