Man crashes car into lake, escapes uninjured

INTO THE WATER — Henry Guenthner, 76, a Massachusetts resident, crashed his 2000 Ford into Thompson Lake around 2:30 p.m. in the area of 65 Beechwoods Road in Oxford on August 22, reported Oxford Police Officer James Richardson. According to Guenthner, he did not have any passengers during the accident. Guenthner said he had trouble finding the brake when he was driving down near the water to park. Richardson said he believes the accident could be the result of a brake malfunction. According to Richardson, Guenthner did not receive any injuries and was helped out of the car safely by police. The car landed in about two to three feet of water. It was pulled out of the water by Oxford Towing.
