WINNER —  Oratorical Contest winner Jack Gentempo, a sophomore, is pictures with Sarah (Glynn) Little, commander of American Legion Foster Carroll Post #72 in South Paris, father Joe Gentempo, Jack Gentempo, mother Jennifer McMahon, and American Legion District Five Commander Kirk Thurston. The Oratorical Contest is sponsored each year by local American Legion posts, and is designed to challenge secondary school students to develop their appreciation of our U.S. Constitution and deliver oral presentations, both prepared and contemporaneous, to area posts. Winners of the local competition proceed to the State competitive event, and have the potential to participate in national events and win significant cash scholarship awards. Jack spoke eloquently in a prepared presentation about the meaning and evolution of the Bill of Rights, and quickly and masterfully spoke of the importance of the 24th Amendment.
