Preteen dance is planned

OXFORD — The Sons of American Legion is hosting a fourth, fifth and sixth grade dance to be held at the Anderson-Staples American Legion Hall on King Street in Oxford, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, February 1.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. This is part of the Sons of the American Legion's youth outreach program. The dance will be chaperoned in part by the local Senior Girl Scout troops from the area to help them meet their community service obligation. In addition, there will be Girl Scout leaders and Sons in attendance.

The music will be provided by TJ the DJ with a light show. The capacity will be for no more than 250 dancers. Once the attendance numbers are reached no others will be admitted. There will be no rain/snow date due to scheduling problems. The price for the evening will be $5. Food will be available for sale in the kitchen, including hot dogs, grilled cheese, bread pizza, popcorn, hot chocolate and more.

For more information, parents can call the American Legion Post at 539-2649 and leave a message for a call back if there is no answer. The phone will be checked every day weather permitting.
