Texas Hold ‘em
MECHANIC FALLS — Mechanic Falls American Legion Post 150 will sponsor a Texas Hold ‘em tournament on Friday, January 18 at 6 p.m. Buy-in is $35.
Breakfast
HARRISON — The Harrison VFW Post, on the Waterford Road in Harrison, will be holding its popular breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 20 at the post on Route 35. The breakfast features scrambled eggs, French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage, home fries, fruit cup, sweet breads, orange juice and beverage. Donations will be accepted.
Suppers
CASCO — It's time to shake off those winter blues! It's the annual "Let It Snow" traditional Maine Saturday night supper at the Casco Village Church United Church of Christ, 941 Meadow Road (Route 121), in Casco. Enjoy homemade baked beans, franks, casseroles, salads, and of course, homemade pies.
It's all happening on January 26 from 5 to 6 p.m. The cost of only $7 for adults and $4 for children includes brown bread and beverages! Sponsored by the Starburst and WACT (We Are Christians Together) Youth Groups with Pastor Joyce - don't miss it!
NORWAY — The Norway Firemen’s Relief Association will be holding a Baked Ham Supper on Saturday, January 19, at the Norway Fire Station at 5 p.m. The price is $8 for adults, $4 for 12 and under and free for children six and under.
HEBRON — Hebron Historical Society will be holding a fundraising public supper on Saturday, January 26 at the Hebron Fire House on Route 119. The meal will feature chicken and turkey pot pie with vegetable, salad, biscuits, dessert and beverage for $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12.
Eat in or take out. The Greenwood Mountain Inn and Chef Daryel Rosario will be supplying much of the food and some of the raffle prizes.
The Historical Society is raising money for its building fund to complete upgrading and to pay off its mortgage. The Society is supported in its efforts by Norway Savings Bank which has offered it a 2 for 1 matching funds challenge.
All proceeds from this supper will be double matched by the bank. The meal will be served from 4 to 6 p.m.
NORWAY — Start off the new year with friends and family at the monthly free supper at Second Congregational Church on Friday, January 18 from 5 to 6 p.m.
On the menu is spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread, salad and desserts by Bruce. The church is located on the corner of Paris and Main St. in Norway across from the Rowe School.
The free suppers are held on the third Friday of each month, organized by Pam and Bruce Davison and Deb Ladner, and are open to all. For more information about church activities call the office at 743-2290 or check out the website at www.seconch.com.
