Maine author to speak at library

HARRISON — A surprising chain of events led writer and Bridgton resident Walter Bannon to discover his mother’s hidden past; the recently published "The White Pocketbook" by Bannon chronicles the amazing survival story of Andree Florin, just 14 years old when the Nazis invaded her Belgian village during World War II.

Bannon will appear Wednesday, January 9 at 3 p.m. (snow date January 16 at 3 p.m.) at Harrison Village Library to share his mother’s story, discuss how his book came to be created, and offer an opportunity for others who lived through this time to share their experiences.

This event is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served, and signed copies of the book will be available to purchase. For more information, please contact the library at 583-2970.
