OHMS students spread holiday cheer

ARTISTS AND WRITERS — OHMS seventh graders hand out free reusable bags at Hannaford in Oxford on December 20. The students decorated both paper and cloth bags with Christmas and winter-themed pictures. Inside each shopping bag was a poem chosen by a student, with a letter to a customer explaining why they had chosen that particular poem. “The students are hoping for a letter back,” OHMS teacher Jolene Twombly-Wiser said. “Last year, two customers responded to students’ letters.” Students and teachers gather around the table displaying the students' bags: from left, Colby Westleigh; Jolene Twombly-Wiser, Language Arts teacher; Taylor Farran, Brandon Smith, Eric Pepin; and Cheryl Lang, literacy coach.
