Superstorm Sandy supplies arrive in NYC
OXFORD HILLS — In early November, supplies were collected for the victims of Superstorm Sandy by the Alpha and Omega Ministries. Donations were provided by donors from the Oxford Hills area.
Three pallets of supplies were collected, sorted, and wrapped by volunteers at Alpha and Omega, located at the Norway/South Paris Transfer Station. The pallets were delivered for free by Ryder Trucks on December 3.
The following is the report from the Rev. Tiffany Triplett Henkel, pastor of the Metro Baptist Church on West 40th Street in New York City: "Just to let you know, all your supplies have been distributed to Sandy Relief sites in Brooklyn, Rockaways and Staten Island, as well as helped to provide clothing for folks here in our immediate neighborhood. We couldn't be more grateful for the thoughtfulness and generosity of your community."
In addition to the supplies that were delivered, cash donations of $250 were also sent to the Metro Baptist Church to help with the recovery efforts.
The leaders of the Alpha and Omega Ministries would like to thank everyone who donated so generously to this collection effort.
