Tribou receives veteran's cane
SUMNER — David E. Tribou, Metalsmith 2nd Class U.S. Navy, is a Korean War veteran. He served from 1948-1952 at the Submarine Base New London CT, and spent two years on the U.S.S. TARARA Aircraft Carrier in the Pacific doing Damage Control.
Robert Perry presented David with the Eagle Head Cane during worship at the Congregational Church of East Sumner on November 11.
The Eagle Head Cane was carved by Bob and his brothers Luther and Charles Perry, who are all members of Streaked Mountain Carvers Club, a chapter of Maine Wood Carvers Association.
The brothers work together as a team creating the canes in conjunction with the “Eagle Head Cane Project for Veterans" through the Maine Wood Carvers Association.
Bob carves the eagle head and Charles carves insignias, medal awards and the names of the veterans after Luther turns the hard wood cane shaft. All three brothers are military veterans.
